Job Title: Technical Product ManagerLocation: Auckland, New Zealand (with required travel to Nelson, Queenstown, and potential international locations)Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 annually, with potential for increase and bonusesCompany Overview:AquaWatch is a leading environmental technology company based in New Zealand, dedicated to simplifying water quality management.
Our mission is to accelerate better global water quality and we are seeking a Technical Product Manager to join our innovative and dynamic team.Job Description:We are looking for a hands-on and experienced Technical Product Manager to lead the development and validation of new features for our water quality monitoring products and enhance existing functionalities.
This role involves close coordination with engineering partners, hands-on development and testing, parts procurement, QA/QC, and the integration of customer feedback to drive continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering or trade background, proven experience in process management and improvement, and a deep commitment to environmental sustainability.Responsibilities:Project Management: Oversee project timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation to ensure successful execution of product development projects.Team Coordination: Lead and coordinate a team of engineering partners and contractors to develop new features, including firmware, hardware designs, enhanced connectivity, and integration with existing environmental management systems keeping in mind practicality for the customer, and serviceability for the company..Customer Feedback Tracking: Log, track, and analyze customer issues, suggestions, and feedback to identify opportunities for product enhancements.Issue Resolution: Develop, implement, and report on solutions to address identified product improvements, ensuring customer feedback is promptly and effectively addressed.Brainstorming and Concept Validation: Lead brainstorming sessions to generate new ideas and validate concepts to ensure feasibility, value, and effectiveness.Testing and Trials: Plan and execute testing and trials of new features to ensure product reliability, accuracy, and effectiveness in diverse environmental conditions.Research and Writing: Stay up-to-date with the latest research in water quality monitoring and connectivity, conduct product research and reviews.Collaboration: Work closely with the sales and operations teams to align product development with market needs, supply chain logistics, and customer feedback.Requirements:Strong project management skills.Hands-on experience in product development and testing or the ability to demonstrate an understanding of the required processes.Proven experience in parts procurement, QA/QC, inventory management, and troubleshooting.Excellent problem-solving abilities with a track record of developing and implementing effective solutions.Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write technical articles and documentation.The ability to get stuff done.Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: PCBA and firmware design, algorithm development, wireless connectivity, water quality sensor management, waterproofing, engineering, and/or environmental monitoring systems.If you are passionate about environmental technology and have a proven track record in product development, we want to hear from you.
