Key Responsibilities: Leading, developing and inspiring our dedicated environmental planning team.Ensuring best practice strategic planning and advice is provided around the management of our environment including analysing and implementing national legislation changes.Leading the development of key projects from high-level outcomes to project plan formation.Co-ordinating submissions to central government and other relevant agencies that result in proactive advocacy.Managing the development of written strategies, policies and plans including options papers, submissions, reports and consultation documents for publication.Providing support to other teams through the development and reviewing of policy documents, providing analysis of data and identifying trends on key issues impacting and influencing our district.Providing objective analysis and timely advice which are crucial for effective governance and strategic planning.Our Ideal Candidate Will: Have an appropriate tertiary qualification in planning, resource management, strategy/public policy or environmental management with 8+ years post-qualification working experience.Possess proven people leadership and management skills, with a drive to develop yourself and your team.Ideally hold a current membership with the NZ Planning Institute.Southland offers superb lifestyle and recreational opportunities, world-class sports facilities, affordable housing and high-quality educational choices.
