Project lead heritage and team lead - Te Anau, New Zealand - Department of Conservation NZConservation Leadership RoleThis role provides leadership and support to our front country teams delivering critical conservation work across Te Anau and Fiordland National Park front country sites as well as Mavora Lakes conservation sites.Key responsibilities include:Daily supervision of staff, contractors, and volunteers.Delivery of training and weekly work planning.Ensuring a strong focus on the health, safety and wellbeing of staff, contractors and visitors in planning and monitoring the work.Facilities maintenance and site restoration across an extensive network of Department owned assets.Participation in after-hours duty roster and occasional weekend and public holiday work.Required skills and experience:Great people management and proven supervisory skills or experience leading a team.Experience in recreational and historic land management.Experience with asset management and planning.Hands-on experience with maintenance of amenities and assets/structures.Experience with small plant machinery such as mowers, scrub bars, and tractors.A strong knowledge base in conservation.Excellent planning and organisational skills with experience in data entry and analysis.Proficiency with computers and phone apps for managing data and work programme.A strong commitment to safety and wellbeing in the workplace.A good level of physical fitness and an ability to work outdoors in a range of conditions.A full New Zealand driver licence.Desirable:A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.Practical background in building or carpentry.Knowledge of the Fiordland area.The salary range for this position is $68,535 to $86,423, with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
