The Role In this pivotal role, you will manage our Premier Sires and Alpha products, ensuring they align with LIC's strategic objectives and generate value for NZ dairy farmers.
Your responsibilities will include executing product roadmaps, defining product requirements, and collaborating with R&D, Operations, and other business units to effectively bring dairy genetic products to market.
Your goal will be to drive the growth and success of LIC's Dairy Genetics products.
Key Responsibilities: Product Management: Utilise sound product management practices to discover and define product solutions that deliver value to our farmer shareholders and align with business goals.
Dairy Genetics Expertise: Have deep knowledge of the genetics that comprise the Premier Sires and Alpha product team.
Be able to communicate with Sales and farmers on the value generated from the products.
Business Acumen: Manage business risks, oversee planning, and consider financial implications to maximize product success.
Customer & Market Analysis: Provide deep knowledge of customer and user needs through customer interaction, data analysis, industry trend tracking, and competitive landscape assessment.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with LIC teams to ensure alignment on product strategy, roadmaps, and progress.
Go-to-Market Strategy: Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, and Sales to develop compelling go-to-market strategies and promotional materials.
About You With a strong product background and comprehensive understanding of dairy farmer needs, you'll utilise various product discovery techniques to align solutions with business objectives and capabilities.
Leading by example, you'll foster a culture of customer empathy, shared responsibility, and collective success.
You will also confidently demonstrate: Product Management: Proficiency in all aspects of product discovery and delivery, with the ability to solve complex problems, assess risks, and articulate well-structured, data-informed narratives.
Dairy Sector: Expertise in dairy genetics to engage effectively with rural professionals.
Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, capable of influencing others.
Commercial Acumen: Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, business case development, and market analysis to inform product strategy and drive revenue growth.
Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with at all levels, fostering collaboration and alignment across teams.
