Coaching & Instruction (Sport & Recreation)The Community Umpire Lead will be responsible for umpire development across the Netball South Zone community.Netball South Zone is one of five Zones affiliated to Netball New Zealand that oversees the promotion, development, and growth of netball in the lower South Island. The Zone encompasses the Otago and Southland regions which includes over 11,000 members participating in netball at grassroots level.We are seeking a Netball - Community Umpire Lead who will lead the development and growth of the umpire network across our zone to support and grow a high-quality umpire system in NZ. This will include implementing initiatives to increase the number and quality of umpires and ready them to transition into the performance umpire space, supporting a culture for umpiring excellence in clubs, schools, and Centres through the provision of high-quality umpire coach development, resources and recognition and planning with Centres to ensure that Centre Umpire development needs are identified and a plan for meeting those needs is in place.The Community Umpire Lead will also develop and support a network of Umpire coach developers across the zone.Ideally, the successful applicant will have a background in working in grassroots sports and a strong understanding of the sport of netball would be advantageous. You will be a skilled communicator, highly organised, well-planned, and reliable. The ability to build and maintain a network of strong relationships and work closely with Netball New Zealand, Zone and Centre staff and volunteers in the netball community is essential.This role is part-time (20 hours per week). The Netball - Community Umpire Lead could potentially be based elsewhere in our zone although our head office is in Invercargill.
