About Us Are you ready to dive into the captivating world of Ephemera & Manuscripts collections? The Walsh Memorial Library, nestled within MOTAT's Great North Road site since 1964, is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Librarian to take the lead in managing our Ephemera & Manuscript collection. The Walsh Memorial Library houses an extensive collection of material reflecting the MOTAT collection, including published, archival, documentary heritage, pictorial, and oral history collections.
Role Overview We are looking for an Assistant Librarian – Ephemera & Manuscripts to join our Library & Archives Team. As Assistant Librarian, you will be responsible for the accurate sorting, describing, and digitisation of Walsh Memorial Library holdings specific to the Ephemera & Manuscripts collection. You will assist with research enquiries that come into the Walsh Memorial Library from both the MOTAT Team and MOTAT visitors and also have the opportunity to participate in the development of exhibitions within the Library space.
About You You will bring your experience in our Library & Archive team with experience in the handling and maintenance of ephemera and manuscript collections. Your attention to detail, ability to communicate, and ability to work as part of a team are highly valuable skills. You will be able to demonstrate your ability by working closely with your team to ensure our collection is cared for appropriately.
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Library & Information Studies, Museum Studies, or equivalentDemonstrated understanding of appropriate handling and care of documentary heritage collections.Sound experience using collection management software (Vernon CMS preferred)Computer literacy including advanced Microsoft packagesDemonstrated experience working in a customer service environmentWhat's in it for you Becoming part of a passionate community of library professionals dedicated to preserving and sharing MOTAT's history.
