We make sure our learners are well equipped for the future needs of employers, by providing them with a mix of hands-on and classroom-based learning.Te aheinga: The opportunityAs the Student Advocate, you'll provide independent support and advocacy for Unitec Students who are confronted by issues that are impacting their ability to successfully complete their education-related goals. This service for students aims to resolve any problems that arise. You'll do this through conflict resolution, negotiation, and mediation. The Student Advocate is there to initially assist and support the member rather than to act on the member's behalf.You'll have:An understanding or desire to learn te reo Maori, tikanga Maori, and the values and practices of kaupapa Maori.Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments.Proven ability to work effectively, communicate, and build strong working relationships with people from diverse ethnic, age, gender, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds.Recent/current understanding of the tertiary education environment, assessment procedures, and dispute processes.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Proven experience in policy development. A Bachelor of Law qualification or equivalent (inclusive of Senior Law Students, a background in advocacy or policing/law enforcement) is desirable but not essential.Tono mai: How to ApplyTo be considered for this position, applicants must be a NZ Citizen or NZ Permanent Resident.Please note: We are looking for the successful candidate to start as soon as possible.
