Te Wero Gymnastics is a small, but mighty gymnastics club committed to nurturing the talents of gymnasts at all levels. What we lack in facility wow-ness, we make up by providing a holistic approach in coaching gymnastics - the interconnectedness of mind and body in an athlete's performance. This coaching style focuses on the mental, emotional, and physical aspects of gymnastics training to develop well-rounded athletes. Te Wero Gymnastics has produced several Canterbury and National championships, as well as international gymnasts representing New Zealand on the world gymnastic stage.
Our mission is to provide a supportive and dynamic environment where athletes can thrive and achieve their highest potential.
We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Senior WAG Coach to join our dedicated team and work alongside our head WAG Coach, Svetlana Sazonova, for immediate start (if possible). This position is for 28+ hours per week (negotiable for more), based on an hourly rate, via salary.
As a Senior WAG coach at Te Wero Gymnastics, you:

will be responsible for coaching and enhancing our senior squads (STEPS 6-8) competitive gymnastics programme,
will work alongside Head WAG Coach, Svetlana Sazonova and co-coach our senior squads (STEPS 9+),
will work closely with our gymnasts, parents and fellow coaches to foster a positive and motivating training atmosphere,
will provide technical instruction and constructive feedback to improve gymnast's skills and performance,
will plan and conduct daily training sessions, including strength and conditioning,
will monitor and evaluate gymnasts' progress, adjusting training plans as needed,
will prepare gymnasts for competitions, including choreography and routine development,
will ensure a safe training environment and promote injury prevention,
will mentor and support junior coaches and staff,
will work collaboratively with other club coaches and the management committee,
will communicate effectively with athletes, parents and management committee members,
will stay updated with the latest coaching techniques and gymnastic trends,
will work proactively and comply with GNZ's WAG technical rules, regulations and policies,
will be accountable for working within the club's vision, mission, policies and procedures set forth by the Management Committee.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Have a minimum of 2 years of coaching experience in Women's Artistic Gymnastics in the senior levels of STEPS 7 and above,
Have a clean proven track record of coaching gymnasts to success at local and national levels,
Have strong technical knowledge of all WAG apparatuses,
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
Have the ability to inspire and motivate athletes,
Have the necessary GNZ coaching qualification (minimum WAG Artistic Junior Advance or higher),
Have a current First Aid and Child Safeguarding certification,
Be currently eligible to work in New Zealand,
Have a current driving license and independent mode of transport.
