About us

The Transnational Organised Crime (TNOC) Strategy brings together 20 government agencies to tackle TNOC by setting out a framework for a coordinated, whole-of-system approach, and aims to enhance cross-agency coordination, strengthen capability and understanding, and centralise operational priority setting, to make New Zealand 'the hardest place in the world for organised criminal groups and networks to do business'.

The purpose of the multi-agency TNOC Fusion Centre is to add value by developing strategic insight and foresight, and influence decision making on the strategic prioritisation and coordination of TNOC activities. The role of the TNOC Fusion Centre is to coordinate and strengthen the strategic and evidence-based intelligence approach across the TNOC governance framework and agencies.

Key Accountabilities

Provide day to day leadership and direction of the team

Manage the process for the delivery of intelligence products

Manage competing demands and priorities across a multi-agency team

Develop and maintain professional relationships across TNOC agencies.

Provide peer review and quality assurance

Champion diverse worldviews, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, identifying opportunities to reflect these in Intelligence products.

About the role

The Intelligence Supervisor position would suit a relationship-focused professional wanting to work in a dynamic multi-agency environment and lead the development of strategic Intelligence capability across the TNOC agencies.

As the Intelligence Supervisor at the TNOC Fusion Centre, you will be responsible for effectively managing a multi-agency team within a Police intelligence framework, while promoting and fostering a culture of true interagency partnership.

As a strategic thinker who is enthusiastic and personable, you will be able to work collaboratively with partners from different agencies to achieve shared goals and be able to articulate and implement strategies for building and maintaining productive relationships with stakeholders.

What you'll bring

Experience in leading staff and developing high performance multi-agency teams

Experience with supporting a team in high pressure environments whilst delivering high quality outputs

Extensive experience communicating effectively and inclusively across agencies with different perspectives

Experience in engaging stakeholders in information sharing and collaboration

Ability to work in a diverse and agile environment.

Special requirements

Current CPK at the rank of the vacancy you are applying for (Constabulary only). For both Constabulary & Police Employees:

Agree to enrol in a leadership programme at the advertised level, at a future date or

Have qualified under CEP or a previous Career Progression Framework at the level you are applying for.

To be eligible for this role you must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET national security clearance.

The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:

NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or:

A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or

A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.

You may occasionally be required to work outside of set work hours and alternative locations for operational reasons. These roles are primarily office based within the specified location.

The TNOC Fusion Centre is hosted by NZ Police and sits within the NZ Police National Intelligence Centre.

This role is set at Team Leader/Manager level , this means your key purpose is "to lead the activities for Our Business and enable people to deliver them."

Because this leads a multi-agency team a multi-agency panel will interview candidates who progress to interview.

Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $110,425 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
