The opportunity: As the primary objective of this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing automated testing solutions to validate the functionality and quality of our AIA software products. Your expertise in identifying and applying industry best-practices in CI/CD, quality engineering, and testing procedures will play a crucial role in ensuring that our systems are free of any functional and non-functional flaws before launch. Key responsibilities include: Development and support of high-quality test automation code, including refactoring and extending automation frameworks.
Implementation of extensive practical experience with automated testing tools and frameworks to contribute to the wider QA practice in the form of process improvements and optimizations.
Analyze functional / non-functional requirements, design and develop test conditions, test scenarios, and automated test scripts that are integrated with CI/CD pipelines and the approved AIA NZ Test Management tools.
Configure, optimize, and execute automated testing scripts against AIA applications, systems, and business processes.
Understand, champion, and align the Automation Test Approach to the AIA NZ SDLC governance standards and define the appropriate types and levels of automated testing to be carried out, including the test data to be used.
Understand and implement both regulatory, AIA Group, and AIA NZ testing standards and protocols to ensure consistency and integrity in testing.
Create / co-create and author required testing artefacts such as, Test Automation Strategy Document, Test Approach Document, Test Plan Document, Requirements to Test Traceability Matrix, Test Execution Progress Report, Test Summary Report, Test Estimation, Test Schedule, Defect Report, and other related deliverables.
Evaluate a situation or problem, understand the risks, costs, and benefits, and apply sound judgement to define the appropriate types and levels of automated testing to be carried out, including the test data to be used.
Work closely with Testers, Developers, and Business Analysts to identify and resolve any gaps in understanding or requirements.
Report and track software defects in accordance with the defect workflow process. Conduct defect triage sessions with the Dev team and Business to review the defects severity/priority and its prioritisation.
Support the project delivery team with preparing and showcasing product features.
Support the planning and execution of automated Production verifications Testing (PVT) alongside our business SMEs and technical SMEs.
Consult with internal / external parties, share expert opinion in various forums, and provide guidance on automation framework architecture and best-practice usage.
Ideally, you'll bring: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related area.
8+ years of professional experience as an Automation Engineer designing, developing, and maintaining full-stack test automation for both modern web applications and microservices, and/or legacy/terminal platforms.
Strong programming skills in at least one of the following languages: JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C#, Python.
Mastery in the implementation and usage of any of the following common automation frameworks: Selenium, Cucumber, Playwright, Cypress, WebDriverIO, Robot Framework, Appium, Mocha/Chai, RSpec.
Strong experience with risk-based automated regression/progression testing, scenario-based automated regression/progression testing, and behavior-driven automated testing principles across diverse technical solutions and complex business environments.
Strong knowledge of the SDLC and superb analytical skills to foresee technical / business-process related problems.
Experienced in managing testing artefacts in a common Test Management toolset (i.e., Jira, X-ray, Zephyr, qTest, ADO, etc.).
Experience implementing automated test execution grids for parallelization.
Strong experience with CI/CD and DevOps principles.
Excellent stakeholder management skills.
