Your opportunity Based in our Wellington City office, this position is an essential role in our Corporate Affairs team, reporting to the General Manager, Corporate Affairs (GM).
The role has two main objectives; supporting the GM and the business in the management and coordination of external stakeholder relations, as well as leading the delivery of strategic Corporate Affairs projects from beginning to end.
These projects span multiple internal business units and work programmes and can involve wider sector stakeholders as well as other stakeholders that sit outside the sector.
These strategic Corporate Affairs projects include, but are not limited to, the annual AGM, director elections, consultations and other projects that arise from DairyNZ's strategic work programmes.
These projects need to be managed from creation to completion, leading and coordinating the work of teams across DairyNZ.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry partners, community leaders, and advocacy groups.
Arrange strategic meetings and provide advance briefings for the DairyNZ Board and Leadership team which cover opportunities, risks, key talking points, itineraries, correspondence including letters to ministers, engagement planning and strategy.
Represent or act as a spokesperson for the GM with designated stakeholders to assist with managing issues when required.
Lead and manage strategic Corporate Affairs projects from creation to completion, ensuring alignment with the DairyNZ strategy and the Corporate Communications and Media Strategy.
Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets as necessary and ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Act as a troubleshooter for projects that require effective stakeholder management and work closely with Corporate Communications & Media Manager to manage emerging issues.
Identify opportunities to improve the delivery of strategic outcomes across business units, providing advice to the GM.
About you We are seeking a highly experienced professional with a relevant tertiary qualification in journalism, communications, public relations, or engagement.
Relevant professional certifications, such as PMP, would be a valuable addition.
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in stakeholder relations, project management, and communications.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to build trust and influence across all levels, are critical for success.
The role requires excellent organisational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities focused on achieving results, and experience leading cross-functional teams.
