The Role & Key Areas of Responsibility:

The Sous Chef will bring a natural flair for creativity, utilizing the local seasonal produce in delivering engaging, shared style food and wine experiences for guests across the summer season.

2 years as a Sous Chef in a hatted restaurant or high-end hotel environment on a fixed term summer contract which for the right chef could be made permanent.
The ability to create and produce high quality, modern cuisine to all customers, whether they be in attendance for a long lunch, private function, or in the cellar door.
Effectively leading, training & developing your team.
Fostering a high performing and cohesive culture amongst the kitchen and front of house teams.
Work collectively with the Executive Chef in delivering a first-class dining experience, creating menus that showcase the best of Marlborough's local ingredients and suppliers.
Proven ability to work independently and take charge of the restaurant in the absence of the Executive Chef with a positive, inspiring, and nurturing leadership style.
Skills & Experience Required:

Our client is only looking at chef superstars who have had a minimum of 2 years experience at Sous Chef or Senior Sous level. A respected and participative team player with a willingness to assist and support others as required with great work ethics.

Adhering to all health and safety requirements ensuring team members' safety with immediate reporting of any incidents or concerns.
Providing exceptional customer service to guests taking special care and attention to personal presentation.
Lead, develop and mentor a team of chefs, kitchen hands and foster an environment of inclusiveness and collaboration in creating an environment where staff enjoy their work and workplace.
Assist with regular on-the-job training to ensure all kitchen staff are performing at their best with a focus on fresh seafood.
You would need to be available for a mid-late September start date.
