Sous Chef

Job Title: Sous Chef
Reports to: Head Chef
FUNCTION: To work as a sous chef in a fast paced kitchen
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure that kitchen produces high quality and consistent food.
Monitor rosters to ensure that all sections and areas within the kitchen are properly staffed.
Delegate duties to the Chefs.
Liaise with the Restaurant Manager to ensure a smooth running of the operation and functions.
Assume responsibility for the day to day operation of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
Ensure that all standard recipes are followed in the kitchen.
Monitor the rotation of stock in all storage facilities.
Ensure that the food preparation knowledge of all members of staff is continually growing and developing.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Have full knowledge of, and practice all occupational health and safety guidelines (OH&S).
Ensure the protection and maintenance of all operating equipment.
Attend all scheduled meetings.
Perform any other duties as directed by the Head Chef.
