About the Role – Sous Chef:
We are searching for a forward-thinking and innovative individual who is capable of transforming ideas into quality dishes. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient management of the kitchen, delivering high-quality food services and nutritious meals to our customers. The role involves varied, active and stimulating duties, requiring a positive can-do attitude and a commitment to enriching the lives of our customers with kindness and a smile.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and execute high-quality dishes according to our menu specifications and in a timely manner.
Accommodate special dietary requirements and needs of customers e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy.
Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during service, delegate tasks to kitchen staff and inform wait staff about the daily specials.
Supervise cooks and assist as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen area, adhering to food safety standards.
Contribute ideas for menu development and participate in creating new dishes.
Uphold our commitment to excellence in presentation, taste, and customer satisfaction.
Respond to guest inquiries in a timely and efficient manner.
Ensure the quality and proper storage of food supplies.
Report maintenance, hygiene and hazard issues.
Adhere to health, safety and food safety legislation.
Demonstrate environmental awareness.
Determine correct portion sizes aligned with pricing and dietary needs.
Ensure all preparation equipment is temperature-regulated and ready for use.
Monitor food stock and place orders.
Keep time and payroll records.
Qualification, Experience, and Attributes Required:
Minimum 2 years of similar experience in a busy environment or a relevant level 4 qualification in hospitality or culinary arts.
Experience in quality and cost control is essential.
Excellent food hygiene practices.
High standard of personal hygiene and presentation.
Ability to thrive in a small, high-paced, and high-volume environment.
Punctual, organised, and capable of multitasking with attention to detail.
Team player with effective communication skills.
Available to work weekends and holidays.
Pay & Benefits:
Full-time permanent employment.
Minimum of 30 hours/week guaranteed.
Hourly rate ranges between $29.66 - $32.00.
