ROLE PURPOSE To ensure the strategic direction and operational plans of Autism New Zealand is delivered, specifically by:
Overall management responsibility of the service delivery arm of Autism New Zealand.
Working with the service delivery managers to ensure consistent and quality service delivery based on Autism New Zealand's principles of service and brand guidelines.
Liaising with and lobbying Government to seek and develop new service delivery opportunities and contracts for Autism New Zealand in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team.
HOURS OF WORK This is a permanent part-time position (32 hours).
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Operational development and reporting Develop and implement the operational plans for each service based on the strategic plan as approved with the Chief Executive and timeframes.
In conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team, establish and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders and partners to facilitate the achievement of the strategic objectives.
Work with the Senior Leadership Team to continually develop and improve the organisation's policies and procedures.
Provide the Chief Executive with monthly update reports.
Provide the Board with reports including appropriate comment and interpretation.
2. Team management Demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for the organisation's vision. Motivate, lead, and empower others to achieve business objectives.
Inspire and lead the service delivery managers towards high performance and innovation.
Demonstrate a leadership style that is professional and open and creates respect and credibility.
Ensure the service managers engage together regularly and build relationships between services.
Support services managers to recruit and induct staff in conjunction with the Business Manager.
Oversee training for service delivery teams with the approval of the Business Manager.
Oversee all service delivery staff performance ensuring all staff perform their jobs to a high standard. In conjunction with the Chief Executive and Business Manager, manage performance-related issues and dismissals.
Promptly report any significant issues to the Chief Executive and Business Manager.
3. Service management Support service managers to effectively manage the day-to-day running of their services according to organisation policies and procedures.
Work with the service managers to identify needs in line with the Business Plan and budget priorities.
In conjunction with the Communications Manager, ensure public awareness and branding of our services is positive and within Autism New Zealand guidelines.
In conjunction with the Research and Advocacy Manager, ensure all services delivered are evidence-based and in line with Autism New Zealand's principles of service.
Promptly report any significant issues to the Chief Executive.
Support the Business Manager to prepare annual plans and budgets for services.
Ensure service managers are managing their resources within budget.
Ensure service managers provide regular information and appropriate reports as required for funding accountabilities.
PERSON SPECIFICATION Knowledge, skills and experience A knowledge of, and experience of autism and related conditions.
Ability and experience in developing and implementing an operational plan.
Experience in the disability sector would be an advantage.
Experience in recruiting and managing staff.
Strong organisational skills.
Ability to manage competing demands.
Ability to analyse complex policy issues, draw sound and astute conclusions and communicate clear directions and ideas to staff and colleagues.
Ability to understand salient issues and make sound judgments based on the relevant information.
Experience in sourcing and securing funding from various sources.
Highly competent in the use of Word, Excel, Outlook/Email, Database, website and social media, and other administration systems and processes.
Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Linking the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to all aspects of service provision and the operations of Autism New Zealand.
Self-motivated and uses initiative.
Empathetic and enthusiastic.
Proactive, energetic, and resilient.
Ethical, responsible, and reliable.
Patient, with the ability to remain calm in stressful circumstances.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team – understanding that sharing information empowers all the team, and is a necessary part of the role.
