Who's the team?
The mission of this team is to uplift and govern our Cloud Platforms, with a focus on GCP.
We're a collective of engineers from varying backgrounds that focus our efforts on making our platform and applications easy to use for our engineers. We build guard rails rather than roadblocks, and strive to make it easy for our customers to ship secure products with as little friction as possible.
We're looking for an experienced Google Cloud Security Engineer to join our team and help us continue to keep Xero secure.
What's the role?
As a Senior Security Engineer, you'll be hands-on solving problems at scale in our GCP environment. You'll become deeply familiar with the capabilities of our vendors to build and support modern and adaptable security services that will delight our customers.
We run mission-critical infrastructure, and you'll build resilient and scalable systems. Automation will be the standard for you, and you'll seek new and interesting ways to reduce our operational overheads. Most importantly, you'll be a team player and get to work with an awesome group of engineers in an amazing and unique working environment.
What you'll do:
Ensure Xero Platform Security solutions are deployed and managed in a repeatable, reliable manner.
Work with Platform and Product teams to design the security architecture for cloud based solutions.
Be eager to improve current processes and have an understanding of Continuous Integration/Delivery; develop and maintain documentation.
Administer and support tools such as Okta, and work to automate security related GCP services (such as IAM, Org policies, KMS, Network Security, Security Command Center).
Work with the Xero Security Teams and Production Platform services to ensure that any escalated incidents and problems are resolved in a timely and comprehensive manner.
Coaching and mentorship, help teach small groups of engineers and contribute to Xero's shared knowledge base.
Participate in the 24/7 on-call roster as required.
What you'll bring:
Google Cloud Platform experience is essential as you'll focus on securing our GCP environment. While AWS remains our primary cloud provider, familiarity with AWS and some knowledge of Azure would be beneficial.
Working Knowledge with IAM, Compute, Networking, Cloud Storage, and Databases.
Previous experience in a Security Engineering position, with at least basic understanding of network and system administration, and a keen interest in growing your knowledge & skills in this area.
The ability to support and understand the different solutions we use to across our platform systems, including a willingness to write code in Python and other scripting languages.
You'll be a proactive champion of agile and delivery practices, who coaches and develops others in this space in order to ensure a consistent approach to ways of working; complemented with a strong drive to work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
A passion for delivering high quality products to your customers.
We truly value inclusivity and diversity in our Xero Security teams. We recently won an award for "Best place to work for Women in Security in New Zealand".
Research has shown that often underrepresented and neurodiverse candidates will only apply for roles if they meet all the criteria. We make our hiring decisions based on passion, experience and potential so please apply even if you can't tick every box!
Please note, applications are open until EOD Monday 25th November; we'll follow up with successful applicants once closed.
