What we're looking for:
Our team is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer experienced in continuous integration and deployment in a microservice environment.
The team is responsible for developing and maintaining a container-based microservices architecture operating on AWS which runs our production and support environments, developer-deployable environments and other developer and infrastructure tooling required to make everything secure and observable.
We operate on a scale and technology diversity rarely seen in New Zealand. You enjoy constantly looking for ways to make things more scalable, more secure, more automated, more maintainable, and more visible.
You'll be:
Supporting microservice architecture & delivery
Improving and supporting our CI/CD systems (GitLab)
Working with teams to package and deploy container-based applications
Enabling teams with container-based delivery best practices and patterns
Managing & improving our platform in AWS
Automating our toil and routine processes
Supporting our developer-deployable environments and infrastructure
Improving our error management and automated responses
Monitoring our service performance and SLOs
Making cost-conscious architecture and workflow decisions
What you'll bring:
Demonstrated experience with Kubernetes and the CNCF ecosystem
Experience working with some of the following technologies: GitLab CI/CD, AWS, ArgoCD, Helm, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and Terraform
Being comfortable with challenges such as debugging code, and transforming infrastructure to make wider use of container clustering and continuous delivery.
Familiarity with language ecosystems (e.g., building and packaging Java or Ruby applications)
A willingness to enjoy sharing knowledge and participating in peer reviews of yours and others' work.
An understanding of the importance of compliance, security and privacy in both our success and the safety and security of our customers.
The ability to work closely with software developers and the wider Flux infrastructure teams.
The ability to assess and balance the priorities of short term fire fighting against long term improvements.
