About the role:
As an experienced Kubernetes Engineer (AKS/EKS/OpenShift preferred) you will design, implement, and manage robust Kubernetes implementations, ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of containerised applications for a major banking client. You will collaborate closely with development teams to optimise DevOps processes, ensuring seamless application deployments and management. This role will be based in Wellington.
As a Kubernetes Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining a reliable, efficient container infrastructure that can adapt to fluctuations in demand. You will also:
Design, implement, and manage Kubernetes clusters to support diverse applications and services.
Automate infrastructure processes using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) practices to enhance efficiency.
Work closely with development teams to optimize DevOps processes, integrating Kubernetes with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Harness, GitLab CI), automating application deployments, and providing guidance on containerization best practices.
Ensure the performance, scalability, and reliability of Kubernetes environments through continuous monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting.
Implement and maintain best practices for container orchestration, deployment, and management.
What you will need:
Strong knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, deployment, and management (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification is highly desired).
Extensive experience with containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure). Familiarity with AKS and EKS is beneficial.
Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and deploy scalable, cloud-native applications.
Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation and CI/CD pipelines (Harness, Ansible, Bitbucket Pipelines).
Solid understanding of cloud-native technologies and microservices architectures.
Experience working with distributed systems, Linux software packaging, and networking/security principles.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
