Reporting to the Head of People, Safety & Sustainability, as a Senior H&S Specialist, you will be partnering with our people to lead a safety first culture so that a safe work environment is considered part of everyday operational activities. Working with the Health & Safety team, you will lead, manage and uphold our company compliance processes, policies, and procedures. The successful candidate will be someone who takes pride in executing their work to a high standard, always striving to exceed expectations. Responsibilities include: Partner with all levels of the business in driving safety strategy and initiatives. Provide strategic recommendations where possible for improved health and safety performance. Implement, drive and achieve safety goals while also maintaining compliance across all sites in Auckland and Christchurch. Provide hands-on and on-site support to the business. Coach all people leaders to follow best safety practises and legislation. Engage and influence, guide and partner with our people (across all levels) to drive safety initiatives and capability. Ensure H&S policies and procedures are up to date and maintained in accordance with company and legislation requirements. Work with key stakeholders to develop and deliver safety strategies and initiatives, ensuring legislative compliance. Provide specialist level support and expert advice and guidance. Ensure that all systems and processes associated with sites, equipment, customer requirements, and utilities are compliant with legalisation and company policy. Lead critical safety investigations and support best practices at all levels (including serious incident investigations). Understand dangerous goods and safe handling practices and processing of hazardous goods. Drive an engaged safety-first culture with open and transparent health and safety reporting. Build strong and trusting relationships across the entire business to proactively influence positive safety outcomes. Monitor and analyse performance on the H&S training system, generating reports and providing recommendations for improvement. About you: Relevant tertiary qualification in Health and Safety. Minimum of 5 years relevant Health and Safety experience with an in-depth understanding and practical application of the NZ Health and Safety Act and Regulations. Experience within FMCG is advantageous along with a multisite environment. Dangerous goods and workplace drug testing certification would be beneficial. Excellent communicator with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
