About the role
As our Senior Decisions Officer, you will play an important role for New Zealand's Veterans as you support and enable the decisions team to undertake the statutory decision-making process on veteran's applications.
You will work closely with the Team Leaders on the team's work allocation, ensure operational training is delivered and contribute to strategic direction for the team.
Your other responsibilities include: Mentoring and training of new staff in the decision-making process.Contributing to the development and carrying out of quality assurance measures.As a subject matter expert on the decision-making process, providing support to the wider Veterans' Affairs team.Modelling best practice for the team and providing coaching and guidance to uplift capability.Stepping in for a Team Leader when required.Making fair and informed decisions in a timely manner.This role is based in Wellington CBD. Once you have undergone training and are up to speed, there is the possibility of working from home up to 2 days a week.

Skills and Experience
What you will bring to the role:
A minimum of 3 years' experience working in a health, insurance or medico-legal sector.Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent attention to detail.An ability to research, work across different teams, manage competing priorities and time well.A continuous improvement lens, well-rounded relationship skills and is self-driven.An understanding of veterans' health issues.Experience in training and mentoring of staff is desirable.A relevant tertiary qualification in law, health practice or welfare would be beneficial but isn't necessary.Nou te rourou
