Geospatial Intelligence New Zealand (GNZ) is a part of Defence Intelligence within our Defence Force. Its mission is to provide effective Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) leadership, products, services and solutions to meet New Zealand's all-of-government and international requirements to ensure the nation's safety, security and success. The Data and Data Analytics Portfolio is interested in expanding experiences, skills and new capabilities. Our ideal candidate will have worked in operational delivery environments and be analytical in nature. Highly developed literacy and numeracy skills are required. To be successful in this role you will need to be:
An experienced Geospatial Analyst who has automated workflows and is interested in specializing as a Geospatial Data Engineer.
Experienced with backend ESRI Enterprise who is looking for a challenge of migrating GEOINT services into a Cloud Environment.
Experienced as a Data Analyst or Developer looking to enhance their skillsets by working with Geospatial Data.
An experienced FME user with an interest in establishing self-service applications in FME flow and creating QA/QC custom transformers to optimize data workflows.
With proven ability to use the following software:
QGIS.
PostgreSQL.
Python.
ESRI ArcGIS.
Safe FME.
Microsoft SQL Server.
Experience with cloud technologies and Linux operating system is desirable. This knowledge can come from academia or the industry. The role is based in Devonport, Auckland. Due to the nature of the role and system accesses needed, we cannot offer remote working. Please ensure that you meet the security clearance requirements for this role before applying.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:
Higher level Security Clearance: You must have been an NZ Citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively, you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for 10 years.
You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have 15 years of verifiable background history in countries where a meaningful background check can be undertaken and assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service.
