Senior Data Analyst - Revenue

Details of the offer

As a growth company, reporting and analysing our revenue is critical to Xero's success.
In this Senior Data Analyst role, you will be an integral part of the finance team providing key insights and decision making by sourcing the right data, discovery and exploration, formulating business rules, testing and conducting data analytics.
Your analysis will span our end-to-end customer journeys, across multiple systems, platforms and channels.
You'll be motivated by your desire to understand how our exciting and successful SaaS business operates and get a high level of satisfaction through contributing to business optimisation and decision making.
We're looking for someone that can hit the ground running and work with key stakeholders at all levels, from developers to leaders.
You will have proven technical and practical skills in the data & analytics domain and confidently lead analytical initiatives and help support & guide our existing data & finance analysts, helping expand a small but strong data capability in Finance.
What you'll do...
The role will suit a highly experienced, end to end data analyst with a passion for contributing to and maximising value from data.
You will work closely with diverse business domains and users, use advanced SQL to source data from our many large and diverse datasets, and present this data in an informative way using modern analytical tools.
Your input will be leveraged during collaborative efforts to develop analytics models that enable improved performance in a manner that is replicable and scalable.
You will be able to frame up the questions to answer, identify critical data points and apply analytics methods to enable reporting & insights which tell a clear, concise story to help our internal stakeholders understand and measure revenue success.
Work collaboratively with Xero's data teams to help ensure the accuracy and completeness of Xero's revenue data metrics, supporting and promoting 'one source of the truth'.
Work closely with the Data Team to understand the flow of data from source to periodic performance reporting & analysis, and work to make this data accessible and meaningful.
Where gaps in data exist, you will proactively identify approaches for filling these gaps.
Be a trusted adviser inside and outside of Finance, helping stakeholders to identify key business questions and finding ways to answer those questions with data.
Support periodic business performance reporting on Xero's key SaaS metrics, customer insights, revenue and overall business performance.
Provide leadership in approaches to creating metrics and data models, and produce metrics and models which enable effective, flexible and insightful reporting & analysis to improve core understanding of revenue and enhance decision-making.
Draw on both specialist and generalist knowledge to derive insights from data.
Research and apply techniques from the wider analytics discipline as required, including a range of statistical techniques.
Proactively suggest and lead implementation of new approaches and automation that can be adopted globally to drive consistency across regions.
Experience you'll bring with you... A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role.
6+ years or more experience in data analytics.
Proven level of expertise in modern data analytics approaches, techniques and tools.
Strong SQL and analytical skills with proven experience working with large & complex databases, including query building and data extraction.
Comfortable displaying insights through Reporting / BI software.
Critical competencies...
Excellent communication skills with an ability to interact with different stakeholders, both non-technical and technical.
Shows an aptitude to independently learn new skills and technologies, and robustly solve problems.
Comfortable working with complex, diverse, sometimes ambiguous data.
Skills delivering analytics in the form of visualisations and interactive dashboards.
Can productively contribute to innovation and problem-solving, and can independently deliver core tasks.
