About the Role: Support the Manager Strategy and Business Support (SBS) to deliver the SBS work programme.Provide strategic advice and technical leadership to support the group, including leading and managing process improvement initiatives and complex projects.Promote trust and confidence in the transparency of government through accurate and timely business analysis and advice.Working at the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA), you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of New Zealanders.
About Ministerial Services: Ministerial Services (MS) is a business unit responsible for promoting trust and confidence in an effective democratic government by providing a range of services and support directly to the Prime Minister and the Executive. The group's functions include recruiting, managing and supporting staff in Ministerial offices, administering Ministerial entitlements, organising official visits and other commemorative events, and providing transport services for Ministers and VIPs.
About the SBS Team: The SBS team supports the General Manager MS and the wider group by:
Leading the group's strategic and business planning processes, public accountability, and corporate reporting functions.Coordinating input into official correspondence requests and processes.Developing and delivering activity to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Ministerial Services and DIA.Working with key stakeholders to ensure advice is well informed through evidence-based decisions and risk awareness.We are looking for an experienced Senior Advisor to join the team on a short-term fixed term or secondment opportunity through to 30 June 2025.
The Senior Advisor will lead and contribute to the accountability and transparency of the group and its operational functions with a particular focus on non-financial performance reporting, business improvement, and risk and assurance activities, while providing advisory support to senior leadership by drafting key internal documents, including briefings and status reports to the Minister.
Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have experience in performance reporting frameworks, business analysis, and risk management, with strong verbal and written communication skills for drafting clear documents and providing advisory support to senior leadership and the Minister's office.
