About the Role
Wellington East Girls' College is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Manaaki Tangata Lead to head our frontline team. "Manaaki Tangata" translates to "care for the people" in te reo Maori, reflecting our commitment to fostering a welcoming environment where students, whanau (families), and staff feel valued, respected, and connected.
As the Manaaki Tangata Lead, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating, communicating, and promoting school events. You will ensure our reception spaces are warm and inviting, embodying the spirit of manaakitanga (hospitality and kindness). Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will contribute to the smooth execution of school processes and events, keeping our communications and website up-to-date and engaging.
What You'll Do
Lead and Support: Be an effective team leader, supporting a diverse range of tasks and guiding our frontline team.
Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.

Coordinate Events: Oversee the planning and promotion of school events.
Ensure clear and timely communication to students, staff, and the community.

Enhance Communications: Maintain and update the school's website and communication channels.
Ensure information is current, relevant, and accessible.

Engage with Community: Build strong relationships with students, staff, whanau, and visitors.
Create a welcoming atmosphere in our reception areas.

Support School Processes: Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to streamline processes.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Tech Savvy: Proficient in computer use, including managing online communications and website content.

First Aid Certified: Hold a current first aid certificate or is willing to obtain one.

Cultural Competence: Understanding of and respect for te reo Maori and tikanga Maori.
Commitment to embracing the cultural diversity of our school community.

Type: Permanent, full-time position during school terms (school holidays are generally not worked).
Hours: 35 hours per week.
Typical Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM; Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
Flexibility: Required for specific events, which may involve additional hours on an as-needed basis, including some work during school holidays.
