Based in our Petone office close to the beach and shops.
This is a full time position of 40 hours per week.
The remuneration range for this role is $90,763 to $128,136 (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience.
The opportunity
As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Financial Controller to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of our accounting operations. You will provide crucial business support to the corporate areas of our organisation and be responsible for reviewing and completing both management and statutory reporting for Council and Wellington Water financial results, prior to final review. This role also ensures compliance with taxation legislation for all taxes.
You Will Be Responsible For

Financial Reporting: Reviewing and completing statutory financial statements for Annual and Half Yearly, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic planning.
Audit and Compliance: Coordinate and manage internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
Taxation: Oversee and review tax returns and filing (GST, FBT and Income tax).
Financial Analysis: Analyse data and prepare monthly management reporting for senior leadership team and quarterly Board reports.
Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

About You
To be successful in this role you will bring:

5+ years post qualification accounting experience.
CAANZ Chartered Accountant qualification (or equivalent).
3+ years' budgeting and/or forecasting experience.
Experience using large financial information systems (Technology One preferred).
A customer service focus with the ability to positively impact culture.
A passion for improving business processes while maintaining a strong internal control environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
