Add expected salary to your profile for insightsWe are currently looking for a new team member to join our Algae team working on Seaweed research projects, based at our Aquaculture Park in Glenduan, Nelson.About the roleThe seaweed technician role includes day-to-day maintenance of the seaweed growing facilities (e.g., monitoring water quality, and maintaining technical equipment), care and husbandry of broodstock and macroalgal cultures in our collection, adding new species to our collection, and experimental work alongside the scientists to propagate and grow seaweeds.
The role will also support other areas of research from time to time including microalgae biomass production and shellfish biology.The position is permanent full-time (37.5 hours/week), and you will be rostered to work on some weekends.About youYou will be a team player with excellent observational and communication skills.
You will ideally have:A BSc, or diploma in Aquaculture, or other relevant tertiary qualification.Experience working in algal ecology, biology, physiology, or in microbiology will be advantageous.Some experience in scientific procedures and/or familiarity with scientific equipment.Be able to lift and/or carry up to 20kg (due to the physical nature of the role).Why work for us?We are committed to being a Living Wage Accredited employer.
