As the management service provider to the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), we administer the Manaaki New Zealand Short Term Training Scholarships (NZSTTS) programme. This initiative allows scholars from around the world to study in New Zealand for up to one year, or online from their home country, helping to build capacity and foster positive international relationships.
Job DescriptionThe opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Scholarships Coordinator to join our Product Innovation and Quality (PIQ) Team. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for scholars, guiding them from the application process through to the completion of their studies. Your ability to connect with people, provide exceptional pastoral care, and manage a demanding workload will be key to your success. You will be responsible for multiple cohorts of scholars, ensuring that they receive the support they need to thrive in their academic journey.
Your key responsibilities: Process scholarship applications efficiently and accurately, ensuring KPIs are met.Collaborate with training providers to secure enrolment in appropriate programmes.Provide exceptional pastoral care to scholars, ensuring they feel supported throughout their scholarship.Prepare accurate training plans and budgets for MFAT.Maintain and update scholar database records and the scholar medical register.Coordinate travel arrangements and pre-arrival maritime testing for scholars.Prepare reports on pastoral care and scholar support plans.Provide remote or on-arrival scholar orientations.Desired Skills and ExperienceYour skills & qualifications: Minimum 5 years' experience in an administrative or customer-focused role.Minimum 5 years' experience in a pastoral care, social work, or international education role.Excellent data entry skills (accurate and quick).Strong customer service ethos with excellent communication skills.Ability to work under pressure and make on-demand decisions.Mental resilience and the ability to work autonomously.A passion for enriching people's lives.Adult education or teaching qualification.Experience working with international students and knowledge of the New Zealand tertiary education system.Awareness of cultural needs and protocols for Pacific and Asian countries.Previous experience in the mental health sector.Knowledge of Immigration New Zealand processes and New Zealand Qualifications system.At Skills Group, we are more than a team, we are a whanau.
