The Role
As the Roading Lead, you will be responsible for maintaining a local road network that is suitable for its intended use, fully accessible, and safe, while ensuring that transportation services are delivered effectively and efficiently. This role involves the effective delivery of transportation services, asset management plans, and overseeing CAPEX and OPEX contracts for both subsidised and non-subsidised projects.
Other Duties Include
Oversee and manage the operations of the roading services for the area.
Deliver both the strategic and business plans and then ensure they align with implemented roading activities.
Prepare, monitor, and report on the roading annual budget and ensure the effective and efficient use of resources.
Build and maintain a professional relationship with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
About you
Our successful applicant will have management experience and a strong background in roading engineering. As Roading Lead you will have diverse experience in contract management, project management, problem solving, financial management and the ability to lead your team to success.
Tertiary qualification in civil engineering (postgraduate preferred).
Chartered member of Engineering New Zealand (CMEngNZ) or Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng).
10+ years of experience in local authority or related fields, including contract management and roading design and maintenance.
Familiarity with relevant legislation (Transport Act, Local Government Act, Resource Management Act) and NZ Transport Agency standards.
