He angitutanga | About the role:
As Regional Planning and Performance Advisor, you will work closely with the Regional Director and Regional Planning and Performance Manager to identify and manage risks, oversee regional performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and lead large-scale conservation projects. You will be a key role that provides advice to the Regional Director to support delivery of outcomes. You will be a proactive, innovative, creative, and solutions-focused person with a passion for delivering better conservation outcomes for Aotearoa.
The position will be focussed on:
Providing sound advice on operationalizing strategy at place to deliver on organisational priorities that drive for outcomes.
Developing processes for capturing and prioritising improvement ideas.
Designing and maintaining monitoring systems for regional assurance.
Leading the implementation of a programme of continuous improvement projects across the region.
Overseeing and coordinating projects as assigned by the Regional Director including monitoring milestones and ensuring timelines are met.
Designing integrated strategies and solutions alongside key partners and stakeholders.
Leading the development of integrated regional five-year outcome plans.
The role at times will need to travel across the region to provide support and engage with our wider staff cohort. At times the role may also be required to travel to Wellington to engage on national strategy work.

This role demands a strategic and analytical mindset, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of conservation management and operational excellence. The ideal person will have an excellent ability to write and plan with the ability to shift between transformational and at times transactional operational thinking.
This role is vital and requires an experienced advisor. If you have the following, we are keen to hear from you:
Senior advisory experience from past or current roles with proven experience in operating within transformational and strategic spheres.
Strong knowledge of conservation management and national strategies.
Proficiency in business planning, financial management, and asset management principles.
Expertise in performance improvement and business process improvement delivery along with implementation experience.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate and integrate information effectively.
Highly skilled in writing is a must along with operating computer and software systems.
Experience in local government, council, or iwi organisations, particularly in long-term planning and consultation operational delivery.
Knowledge and understanding of Treaty Settlement and implementation context is key for this role based within the region.

The Regional Operations Group is responsible for delivering conservation work on the ground through our biodiversity, recreation/historic, community engagement and tiriti teams. This role forms part of our newly established regional Planning and Performance Team to support, plan and improve performance across the region through a range of initiatives including strategic planning and implementation. A core element of the team is to support a shift into transformational opportunities that lead to better outcomes for Taiao at place working at times with our national sphere to bring alignment.
