Position Overview

As our Regional Planner, you will be at the heart of crafting and executing strategic plans that integrate our biodiversity, heritage, and visitor, treaty, and community priorities within the Eastern North Island.

Key Responsibilities

Drive the development of integrated regional plans that align with organizational strategies and direction to make a difference for Taiao.

Support districts to develop district plans aligning with regional and national directives.

Provide functional advice focusing on visitor and heritage while integrating planning alongside other functions (Biodiversity, Tiriti, and Community).

Problem solving with a solution-focused mindset.

Provide advice and support to functional groups (Visitor, Biodiversity, Heritage, Tiriti) to establish organizational priority uptake across the region.

Oversee performance reporting and provide assurance on progress towards targets.

Contribute to regional reports by analyzing operational and project delivery trends and recommending improvements.

Prepare and write regional tasks in support of the Eastern North Island Director and the Regional Leadership team.

Support improvement initiatives that align with conservation outcomes, treaty outcomes, capability training, skills, and culture work at a regional level.

This is a regional role that provides support to the wider region as required, involving travel between Tauranga, Rotorua, and Gisborne.

Skills and Experience

This role is suitable for an experienced operator who has a demonstrated background in planning and performance improvements. Most importantly, the ability to be pragmatic, show initiative, and problem solve is essential. If you have the following, we are keen to hear from you:

Understanding of conservation management and national strategies.

Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in business planning, financial management systems, and performance reporting.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to integrate and present data insights effectively.

Proven experience in long-term outcome planning and operational delivery.

Knowledge and understanding of Treaty Settlement and implementation context.

The salary range for this position is $79,656 - $100,639, with the starting salary of the successful applicant based on their relevant skills and experience. Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including holding a valid work visa that covers the entire period of employment.
