About this role | Mo tenei turanga

This is a permanent, full-time role based at our Botany Office.

At Te Tahuhu o te Matauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to akonga and whanau.

Learning Support is a critical part of the Te Mahau in the Ministry. We ensure that children and young people with additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education. Our Learning Support specialists work closely with families, whanau, caregivers, schools and early childhood educators in English and Maori medium settings and other agencies to help maximise learning outcomes and promote social inclusion.

As a psychologist you will play a critical role in our region's Learning Support team by:

Identifying patterns or contributing factors that may be influencing learning, wellbeing, and behaviour.
Enhancing inclusive practices in early learning services, schools, and other educational settings
Providing professional support and guidance to schools, teachers and families and building the capacity of those who are best placed to support the learning of children and young people.
Providing appropriate in-depth specialist assessment and analysis for evidenced informed interventions.
Working as part of a trans-disciplinary team where a child's needs are complex.
Provide objective consultative analysis, advice, and information on project requirements.
Apply the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Disability Strategy, and other relevant government initiatives and strategies, in all aspects of service provision, and, where appropriate, participate effectively in their implementation.

Salary range: $85,416.00 - $126,000.00 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mohou ake

To be successful you will need:

A master's level tertiary qualification and a post-graduate Diploma in Educational Psychology or equivalent.
To be a New Zealand Registered Psychologist under the Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act and hold a current practicing certificate, OR be registered as an Intern Psychologist having gained entry to a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology that will enable you to gain full registration as a psychologist under the HPCAA
Ability to translate practitioner knowledge into practical information.
Ability to co-ordinate service provision in a multi-agency, trans-disciplinary setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with children, young people and their families and teachers across a diverse range of cultures and settings.
The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga.
A full drivers licence.
The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct .
