The Infrastructure & Delivery group is central to much of this mahi.Sitting within this, our Property and Capital Projects team plays a key role in delivering critical vertical and infrastructure projects to keep Poneke up and moving. A significant portfolio and programme of work in Property and Capital Projects is Te Ngakau Programme.The Te Ngakau Programme was established to plan and deliver projects within the Te Ngakau Civic Square precinct. This is an exciting opportunity for an up-and-coming Programme Coordinator to support precinct development which holds some of Wellington's most iconic civic buildings including the Town Hall, Wellington Library, Michael Fowler Centre, and City Gallery.The Te Ngakau team oversees the coordination of a range of interdependencies from buildings, public space, infrastructure, and activities by monitoring the work and managing relationships to ensure all projects are moving forward for current and future generations to enjoy once again.We are now looking to add a new Project Manager on a fixed-term basis ending September 2027 to assist the Te Ngakau Programme manager with planning and delivery of multiple complex projects, specifically the enabling of minor projects required in advance of Major Capital Projects.This newly created role supports the Programme manager by maintaining a whole of project view and is an essential role in the ongoing collaboration with internal and external stakeholders maintaining good working and functional relationships.A quick snapshot of your day:Actively contributing to project brief definition, scoping, budgeting, and delivery planning.Manage all project activities using good practice project management principles ensuring reporting requirements are met, project risks are fully understood and monitored, robust and transparent procurement processes are undertaken, and budget and scheduling expectations are met.Maintain an overview of the project budgets and implement cost control tools to ensure costs stay within available funding.Work collaboratively with enabling services and staff at Council to ensure the opportunities presented by this project can be realised, in line with our policies, strategies, and standards.Set milestones and clear, measurable performance indicators while regularly reviewing progress.In essence, this role is instrumental in the successful execution of projects that play a vital role in achieving the Council's vision.About youWith over 3 years of construction industry experience (residential or commercial), you will hold a tertiary qualification and demonstrated experience in project management, design, and/or construction.Along with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders, you will be experienced in the successful management of contracts, including understanding, interpreting, and responding to management, operational, and financial information.About usWorking for the Council offers you a range of benefits including 5 weeks annual leave, flexible working options, health and wellbeing support, Council staff discounts, and a range of learning and development programmes and opportunities.Applications close 25th of August 2024.
