We are seeking a procurement professional to lead procurement activities and support commercial strategies for medicines and vaccines, and feed into a wider programme around hospital medical devices to ensure optimum value for money is gained.
In this role, you will be managing competitive procurement processes, which will include planning, conducting evaluations, negotiating, and consulting with relevant stakeholders.
The role requires strong analysis and writing skills. The primary focus of this role is sourcing, as Pharmac has dedicated contract management teams.
This role provides a fantastic opportunity to be at the core of Pharmac's operations and part of a collaborative team that leads procurement activities on behalf of the wider health sector.
The purchasing decisions you will facilitate are not made for the benefit or use of the agency; they are made for the benefit and use of New Zealanders and the wider health sector.
You will be able to see and feel the results of the work you do. This position is situated within our close-knit Procurement Team who are a forward-thinking, friendly team that want to foster a sustainable medicines and medical devices market for the future of all New Zealanders.
The team consists of seven people and sits in the Procurement and Contracts Team within the Pharmaceuticals Directorate at Pharmac.
While conducting procurement processes, you will engage closely with a wide variety of other teams within Pharmac such as the Pharmaceutical and Device Funding Teams, Legal, Communications, Analysis, Medical, and Implementation teams, all of whom are invested and actively involved in our procurement work.
Please note in this position you will be managing procurement processes, rather than our Procurement Team. Similar types of expertise include procurement specialist, sourcing manager, and contract manager.
The salary range for this position is $91,814 - $124,220 total remuneration. The appointment range is $97,215 - $124,220 total remuneration, inclusive of 3% KiwiSaver Employer contribution.
The appointment salary will be subject to the preferred candidate's relevant skills, experience, and qualifications. This position is also Wellington based.

Our ideal candidate will bring the following:
Experience in leading various end-to-end procurement activities and writing up relevant documentation.Understanding of the New Zealand Government procurement rules, and public sector structure (particularly regarding health) and regulations.Excellent relationship management and negotiation skills as your engagement with medical suppliers will ensure value is optimised across the supplier base.Analytical skills, able to deal with complex financial, economic, and clinical data.Strong ability to collate information and concisely communicate this in verbal and written forms clearly to a range of audiences.Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks of varying complexity and meet deadlines.A willingness to learn and a desire to make a difference to the lives of New Zealanders is key. While we are primarily looking for individuals with procurement experience, we are open to receiving applicants with other relevant experience in the health sector or pharmaceutical industry to bring those perspectives to our procurement activities.
