Are you ready for a change? Do you want a different experience of teaching? Why join us?
At Whareorino School, we are a friendly, supportive community where our four students thrive in a nurturing, rural environment. This is a fantastic chance to work in a setting that celebrates both country life and coastal charm. Whether you're looking to stay locally or bring a campervan, we welcome you to be part of our close-knit community and enjoy the relaxed lifestyle. We're seeking an engaging, adaptable educator to join our team as a Principal Release Teacher (0.4 FTTE) with the possibility of additional days. This unique role offers flexibility in the arrangement of on-site days, allowing you to enjoy the best of country and coastal vibes.
Whareorino School is located in Waikawau, halfway between Marokopa and Awakino on the West Coast, within the Tainui Rohe of Ngati Maniapoto. In 2025 we expect to have four students between Years 2 and 8. We may be small but we are well resourced, with a classroom, library, swimming pool, and a van. We collaboratively plan and teach students using a combination of Structured Literacy, Structured Numeracy, and localised curriculum with an emphasis on Enviroschools and Garden to Plate, and collaborating with local schools. Our staffing is from the community: Teaching Principal, full-time support staff/admin, cleaner, and Ka Ora, Ka Ako cook.
Rural life is flexible; choose how to arrange your days on site – park up your campervan or stay in a farm cottage for a blend of lifestyle and work. You could teach every alternate week, spread your days, or have a flexible timetable. Complete the online form if you are ready to join us.
