This multi-disciplinary group also has responsibility for our organisational customer services and city-wide emergency management functions.This is a key role within the Operations Group, reporting to the Group Manager, where you will get the opportunity to help shape the future of infrastructure and service delivery for the Upper Hutt community.Working with the Group Manager, manager peers, and subject matter experts across the group's diverse activities, the Principal Advisor will provide both high-level technical advice and practical support to operational delivery of the group's diverse activities.This ranges from supporting strategic planning and budget setting, monitoring of programme delivery and key performance indicators, projects, health and safety outcomes, and customer service responses, to maintaining a culture of continuous improvement within the Operations Group. This role is also responsible for providing advice on and support to developing policies, strategies, and bylaws relevant to the group's activities.Key skills we are looking for include:At least 5 years' experience in a relevant role or ready to move into a Principal roleStrong project and/or programme management abilitiesExceptional organisational skills and the ability to coordinate diverse functions and activities to achieve objectivesA flexible 'hands-on' approach to undertaking a wide range of work that may be required in connection with the Operations Group portfolioExperience producing and implementing evidence-based strategies, plans, policies, and reports, which are written in 'easy read' contentExcellent relationship building, communication, and problem-solving skillsEvidenced analytical and critical reasoning skillsExperience in central or local government organisations would be an advantageInvolvement in local government consultation and engagement is desirableThis role will appeal to highly motivated candidates with a drive for success and an appetite for a diverse portfolio, with exceptional coordination and collaboration skills to work across the wider team ability to get things done.This is a unique opportunity to join Upper Hutt City Council and contribute to delivering great outcomes for the community.
