Nga kawenga | About the role
Join our Cultural Capability team in the key role of Principal Adviser Kaupapa Maori Capability. This role will be vital to ensuring a Te ao Maori lens is applied when developing people strategies and frameworks.
Supporting our people with your knowledge of best practice Kaupapa Maori methodologies, you will naturally feed into existing capability building activities and the way we deliver on our overarching strategy, Hokai Rangi.
Day-to-day you will be collaborating closely with Principal Adviser Cultural Capability and Senior Advisers on the development and implementation of policy and supporting the business on transformation and change.

For this role we need an expert Kaupapa Maori Capability practitioner who is confident supporting others on their learning journey. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and researcher who can communicate complex information to any audience.
The Principal Adviser's toolkit will include knowledge of organisational strategic planning and experience of working with Maori Crown Relations, Te Arawhiti. A justice sector background would be an advantage in hitting the ground running in this role, and it will be important to understand the lived experience of people in the justice system.

You will bring the following to the role:

Experience in organisational change management and policy
Principal Adviser level knowledge of best practice Kaupapa Maori methodologies
A tertiary qualification or diploma in Matauranga Maori or a similar area is an advantage, but relevant work experience will be equally considered
Strong research skills and an ability to apply research to your practice
Comfort with speaking and writing in te reo Maori (if you are still on your journey with te reo, but are willing to continue developing- we encourage you to apply)

Utu a-tau | Salary
The mid point of the salary range is $137,525 and the full range (85%-120%) is $116,897 - $165,030. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
