Principal Adviser, Caulerpa Long Term Management

Salary range: C $117,035 to $156,888 depending on skills and experience
Korero mo te Turanga - About the Role
As the Principal Adviser, Caulerpa Long Term Management, you will contribute to initiatives to reduce the spread and impact of exotic caulerpa seaweeds that are presenting a material threat to our marine environment in the upper North Island.
Your key priorities which will contribute to the delivery of a long-term management programme for exotic Caulerpa will be:
Supporting the Programme manager and Director in setting the strategic direction and priorities of the Caulerpa Long Term Management Programme by providing thought leadership, analysis and advice.
Supporting the alignment of activities across MPI and between the biosecurity system and other systems, e.g. biodiversity and environmental management.
Actively engaging and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify risks and opportunities to strengthen and improve pest management and ensure others can actively participate in pest management to support the programme delivery.
Facilitating the development of joint strategies and management plans and ensure that all projects and programmes are developed through appropriate consultation and co-design processes and are fit for purpose.
Leading and contributing to the delivery of Caulerpa Programme's projects and programmes by ensuring that effective foundations and frameworks are in place and applied.
Mou - About You
You'll likely be working in the biosecurity space or have a passion in this area. You have likely supported initiatives requiring collaboration with multiple partners and stakeholders including iwi Maori, other regulatory agencies, and community groups to help achieve alignment and effective delivery of a complex programme. A marine background would be ideal.
Relationship building and working effectively with partners and stakeholder groups is in your daily repertoire. You love to work collaboratively and deliver on time with the help of those around you.

Mo to matou Ropu - About the Team
This newly established team is focussed on the establishment and delivery of a programme of work to manage exotic caulerpa. This team consists of two Senior Advisers with a range of skills and experience working in marine biosecurity and one senior adviser focussed on Partnerships and Engagement. The team will be managing contracts to undertake operational work to develop tools and treatments, investigating strategic science, building capacity and capability in local communities, providing tools and information for pathway management, and influencing behaviour change.
