Salary: $127,142 - $160,000 per annum (+ KiwiSaver)
About the opportunity | Nga whakamarama mo te tunga As the Principal Adviser Capability reporting to the HR Manager, you'll be working closely with the HR team to lead, create and implement capability and organisational development initiatives and solutions for the Ministry.
You will have a broad scope and will enjoy delivering an ambitious work programme to help shape the future of our Ministry.
As a Principal Adviser in the Ministry's HR team, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the delivery of some of our most complex and ambiguous areas of work. You will do this by working with and through others.
Responsibilities: Lead the development of a workforce strategy for the MinistryContribute to the development of a graduate programme for 2025Have a strong focus on our learning and development area and will be responsible for organising the common capability plan for the Ministry which includes leadership developmentLead the review and refresh of our performance expectation frameworksDevelop and enhance our career progression frameworks, pathways and strategyDevelop, lead and contribute to initiatives for our diversity, equity and inclusion committee and strategyLead/contribute to the development of retention strategies, recognition and reward strategies and plansContribute to the review of our approach to induction and onboardingLead/contribute to the development and refresh of policies, procedures and guidelinesEnjoy achieving results and working as part of a teamCollaborate closely with our HR team and wider Ministry to build capability and foster high-performing teams aligned with the Ministry's purpose, values, and objectivesWhat you'll bring | Te wahi ki a koe We're looking for someone who is passionate about building capability and who can operate at both a strategic and operational level. You will be able to easily make linkages and connections across work programmes, understand and achieve business outcomes as well as demonstrate pragmatism, problem solving, and analytical skills.
In addition, you will have:
A minimum of five years in an organisational development or capability focused role at a Principal Advisor levelDemonstrated experience in leading the development and implementation of a workforce strategyPrevious public sector experience in sourcing and implementing organisational development and learning and development programmes, initiatives, and toolsExcellent verbal and written communications skills and demonstrated ability to influence and persuade senior leaders and key stakeholdersA team-based approach and collaboration skills with the ability to engage, build and maintain strong relationships and partnerships, connections and networks at all levelsA good understanding of cultural awareness, ensuring we honour our obligations under the Treaty as it applies in the public sectorWhat we offer | Te wahi ki a matou Scope and the ability to influence in your chosen field.
