About the Role This is a key, strategic role within Datacom, tasked with driving growth, innovation, and ultimately commercial success for a market-facing proposition. Working within the Digital Engineering division, you will guide the future of our proposition for Modern Application development. Leveraging the power of AWS and Azure, you will develop cloud-native solutions that solve our customer business challenges.
You will take responsibility for growing a high-performing team, combining your deep technical expertise with strong commercial awareness to craft, position, and sell development-related services. A willingness to work collaboratively with our internal teams and understanding our client's customers is essential. A good understanding of different delivery methods across agile and product is advantageous.
What you'll do (Your Why): Team Leadership: Define and execute the capability plan to create a culture of success, including team growth, performance, and development.
Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance and technical leadership on the development of cloud solutions and cloud-native development.
Sales: Articulate and evangelise the Modern Application development value proposition across Sales, Service, and Marketing to internal stakeholders, customers, and the wider market.
Strategic direction: Consult with the wider business to define and execute a growth strategy for the Modern Application services business across Wellington and wider markets.
Commercial and financial management: Create and manage the operational budget, including month-end processes, invoicing, and reporting.
Partner Engagement: Lead strategic planning around opportunity and product roadmaps to ensure we work with our partners both efficiently and with impact.
What you'll bring The Practice Lead role in Datacom is a senior position leading a specialised area within our high-performing Digital Engineering business. With responsibility spanning the entire process from capability development to identifying business value and managing delivery, this is a challenging role demanding the highest level of people, technical, and business skill.
You'll utilise your deep technical experience in Cloud technologies to provide insight and solutions to our large set of customers across New Zealand. We need someone with solid technical knowledge, so experience in technical leadership roles involving Cloud application development is a definite must. As you build your Practice, you will be happy rolling up your sleeves with hands-on delivery, so you need to have experience implementing end-to-end application solutions in the past and be up to date with the latest technology.
You come with demonstrable experience driving growth, managing commercial operations, and leading innovation. You will have excellent people skills, commercial acumen, and a solid understanding of software professional services delivery.
