About the role As the Pou Arataki (Deputy Principal) at Te Kapehu Whetu, you will play a vital role in supporting the school's leadership and driving its strategic objectives.
This is a full-time position based in Whangarei, where you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our kura and ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational experiences for our akonga.
What you'll be doing Assisting the Pouhere in providing strategic direction and leadership for the kura Overseeing the implementation of the school's curriculum and ensuring adherence to educational standards Collaborating with Pou Ako and kaimahi to develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies Monitoring akonga progress and performance, and implementing interventions where necessary Fostering a positive and inclusive school culture that supports the well-being and development of akonga and staff Representing the kura at various events and engaging with the local community Ensuring the school's compliance with relevant legislation and regulations Providing mentorship and support to teaching staff, and contributing to their professional development What we're looking for Full Registration and any related Certifications Fluent speaker of Te Reo Maori and experience in a Maori immersion environment Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role within the education sector A strong understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum, Te Marautanga O Aotearoa Proven track record in managing and implementing educational programs and initiatives Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills Demonstrated commitment to the continual growth of Te Reo me ona Tikanga Maori What we offer At Te Kapehu Whetu, we are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive work environment that fosters professional growth and work-life balance.
