About the team
Our Information Services and Technology (IST) Division delivers and supports the Transpower ICT infrastructure and the ~180 applications that interface with the grid, facilitate system and grid operations, and support our corporate processes and functions.
The IST Delivery Services team work to deliver circa $60m of IST projects per annum, encompassing both waterfall and agile delivery techniques. The group is responsible for the delivery and for the well-managed and appropriately sourced IST project delivery process, designed to ensure a consistent experience for all stakeholders. The right people and timely delivery of our ICT Work Programme is essential to Whakamana I Te Mauri Hiko - Empowering our Energy Future.
About the opportunity
As a member of the collaborative Delivery Services leadership team, you'll lead a permanent team of 5 supplemented with contractors as required. You will ensure the successful delivery of the Critical portfolio which covers change to Transpower's mission critical Market Systems and Real Time and Stations applications, including SCADA.

Programmes and projects within the Portfolio are delivered in the most optimised (cost, time, safety, and quality) manner.
The portfolio is appropriately resourced with people who are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and positive behaviour.
Customers and stakeholders are well informed and engaged, throughout the delivery according to all critical dimensions.
Appropriate governance mechanisms for the Critical Portfolio are consistently followed, minimising risk and maximising benefits.
Appropriate delivery methods and governance mechanisms for the Enterprise Portfolio are consistently followed, minimising risk and maximising benefits.

What will you bring?
Portfolio, Programme/Project management accreditation (e.g., MSP, PMP) and experience in varied project and programme delivery methodologies. You'll have outstanding relationship management skills honed in complex commercial environments and demonstrated experience building capability and ensuring a highly engaged team.
Well-developed communication and influencing skills (both written and verbal), and financial acuity assists you when identifying the information which is material to a decision. We are looking for someone with the ability to question articulately and calmly navigate any associated ambiguity while moving forward.
Your previous experience, CV, and cover letter will clearly demonstrate:
10+ years of relevant portfolio, programme, and project management experience in applications delivery in a large commercially orientated environment.
5+ years managing large delivery programmes, working with vendors and strategic partners.
Demonstrated experience of both producing business cases and running project procurement processes, and experience managing portfolio financials, including accurate financial planning, forecasting, and risk management.
Proven ability to recruit and effectively onboard skilled professionals (both permanent and contract).
Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop people, including establishing professional standards across a diverse team through influence and leadership.
