What your role and typical day might look like
We're looking for an experienced Payroll Advisor over the next 12 months to manage and execute on our core payroll processes for the dentsu Aotearoa business and supporting a project to deliver on towards the future state vision of our business. Playing a central role within the business, you will be partnering closely with our HR team, external suppliers, and the broader finance team to ensure monthly payroll activity is delivered on time and accurately, and managing queries, challenges or issues that may arise as our resident payroll champion.
Responsibilities could include:
Liaising closely with external payroll provider, Datacom, to ensure timely and accurate monthly staff salary payments (approx. 300 staff across AKL and WLG) and one-off end of month pay (approx. 10-15 staff)
Maintain and administer all staff changes on payroll platforms and systems including new joiners, leavers, leave adjustments and personnel details
Understand NZ Payroll requirements including superannuation, parental leave, ACC and IRD updates
Triage and resolve general payroll queries / managing payroll inboxes
Work closely with HR Advisors to reconcile, review and capture workplace changes to ensure data accuracy.
Reconcile payroll payments and prepare payroll journals & intercompany rechanges for dentsu and Merkle businesses
Support payroll project requirements
A bit about you
At least 2 years' experience in a similar, dedicated Payroll Advisor or Specialist position, in a mid to large, global organisation, supporting payroll for around 200+ people
An understanding of New Zealand Payroll related legislation and administration, e.g. Holiday Act, Employment Act etc.
Preferred, any accounting qualifications – CA, CPA, but not mandatory
Process driven, highly organised and high level of attention to detail
Intermediate to advance Excel skills
Ability to work independently and proactively communicates across teams
Fluent written and verbal English language skills essential.
