Op Shop Assistant

Op Shop Assistant
Company:

Volunteering Waikato

Details of the offer

Want to make a real difference in your community?
Our Op Shop team does fantastic work in the community selling affordable pre-loved goods, and this helps to fund our essential, lifesaving services and community initiatives.
We have created a friendly, supportive community hub, offering much-needed local services and we even help New Zealand to be more environmentally sustainable - more recycling means less landfill!
Maybe you already have retail or customer service experience or perhaps you're looking for an opportunity to learn these skills - either way, we'd love to hear from you.
What's involved?
There's plenty of variety in this role. You could be doing anything from serving customers and cash handling to sorting donated goods, visual merchandising or tidying the store. At the moment we are particularly looking for volunteers to process purchases at the till and do EFTPOS transactions.
We welcome and encourage diversity in our workforce and adhere to best practice equal employment opportunity principles in all aspects of our recruitment and our ways of working.
Haramai nga tai o te aniwaniwa, he kahui rangatira tenei, he kahui whakamana tangata whaimahi, e te iti, e te rahi e.
Requirements:
Retail experience is great but not essential. If you're keen to learn, enthusiastic and reliable, then we can teach you the skills you need.
If you are at least 18 years old and want to give back to your community, we'd love to hear from you. The recruitment process will involve an interview with the store manager, a reference check and a criminal record check.
Time commitment:
We are looking for people who can spare 4 hours a week (one half-day shift), ideally for at least 6 months.
Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
