If you are passionate about making a difference in our community, love where you live and care about people and the kind of experiences they have, then this role is for you!As a Residential Advisor | Taurima, you will:Support a group of residents within the hall.Support the delivery of active and passive residential experiences and support programsUtilise your excellent communication skills amongst the communityLead the way as a positive values-led role modelSupport the day-to-day operations of a safe and inclusive environmentRefer residents to University support servicesOur RA | Taurima role is a challenging yet very rewarding experience. We have 74 live-in RA | Taurima positions available throughout our UniLodge Halls at the University of Canterbury for 2025. You will work between 15 hours a week, live within the Halls, and undertake this fixed term role starting from the beginning of January through to the end of November 2025.Mou | WHO YOU AREYou will be a self-assured and successful tertiary education student who has completed at least one year of study. To be successful as an RA | Taurima you will have:A demonstrated capacity for leadership and maturity.An ability to respond to difficult or challenging situations in a calm and responsible manner while following all appropriate procedures.Empathy in relation to the diverse issues faced by university tauria | students and an appreciation for the needs of kainoho | residents in student accommodation.Excellent communication skillsHigh level of creativity and problem-solving ability.An ability to interact with residents across many different cultures and backgrounds.An ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.Flexible availability to meet the training and rostering requirements, including during weekends.Mahi Ngatahi | WHO YOU WILL WORK WITHThe UniLodge Waitaha | Canterbury team is responsible for Tupuanuku, University Hall, Ilam Apartments, Sonoda, Hayashi and Kirkwood Avenue Hall, a community which totals around 2200 Kainoho.
