The What As a Senior Event Manager, you will have a diverse and varied role. Here are just some of the things you'll be getting involved with:
Plan events from start to finish according to requirements, target audience and objectives.
Provide a complete and comprehensive service from inquiry and proposal through to booking and completion, with a proactive and consultative approach.
Manage all aspects of event execution, including pre-event preparation, event deployment and post-event review and administration.
Arrange travel requirements for delegates as required.
Prepare budgets related to events and ensure adherence.
Manage a variety of events simultaneously and assist at larger events while delivering the highest standards with a personalised and individual approach to each client.
Take responsibility for ensuring the health and safety aspects of managed events.
Source and negotiate the best rates from vendors and suppliers and actively seek to maximise savings, reduce client expenditure, and increase company profitability.
Manage existing clients effectively, creating and leveraging opportunities to generate additional business from existing clients and assisting in generating business from new clients.
Manage the budgets and finances for all events, taking responsibility for ensuring the profit levels are in line with the work required and risk taken. Complete a post-event reconciliation with all final costs incurred with suppliers for each event.
Creatively prepare proposals, including event design, attend venue show rounds, entertain clients, and actively network in the industry.
Travel internationally to coordinate and oversee client events.
In the absence of team members, assume greater responsibility or complete administrative tasks and/or provide coverage to ensure the smooth running of the events department and client support.
Proactively assist and support the Events Team to ensure the department operates effectively, successfully, and profitably.
Demonstrate attention to detail so that errors are reduced and kept to a minimum.
Proactively seek ways to improve functionality for the department by suggesting ideas for improved practices.
Ensure all tasks are responded to, processed and completed promptly, accurately, and within deadlines.
Bring any areas of concern or potential problems to the immediate attention of the line manager.
Show professionalism at all times and promote positive working relationships with all levels of staff across the department.
Attend FAM trips, pro-actively research, and continually expand knowledge and understanding of the Events industry, including venues, properties, and destinations.
Mentor junior and new members of the team.
Adhere to company PCI requirements.

We work flexibly to accommodate our TAG team colleagues, meaning on occasion there could be requirements outside of office hours to manage time zones and other work commitments. As a Senior Event Manager, there are several credentials and attributes which would be advantageous, but a determined attitude and willingness to learn are equally important.
Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Event Management or similar field OR in lieu of education, equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
5+ years of experience within the event industry (Events agency preferred).
Experience of working on at least 10 events internationally.
Background of working with at least $500K budgets and writing proposals.
Experience working alongside air travel team and booking flights in airline reservations system (Galileo preferred).
Ability to work independently or within a team.
Adaptability to a changing environment, to work in a pressurized and demanding environment, to work to agreed deadlines and be able to prioritize workload.
Proactive and self-starter with excellent customer service and negotiation skills.
Problem-solving and multitasking skills with the ability to think outside of the box.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
The Where and When This is a 12 month full-time role (37.5 hours per week) based in our Wellington office. Since March 2020, we have operated a flexible, hybrid approach to working and will continue to do this moving forward. We will work with you to find the best mix of office and home working that suits your life and the needs of the team.
You will report into the Managing Director, who is based in Wellington. There are other regional teams based in Australia, Singapore, UK and the US that you may work closely with, too.
