Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) is truly unique, delivering proactive surf lifeguarding and essential emergency rescue services, a range of public education beach safety programmes and campaigns, member education, training and development as well as a highly respected sport.

This role is critical to champion the cause of Surf Life Saving through media, communications and Public Relations (PR), to raise our profile and awareness by sharing our stories and upholding our position as the leading coastal and beach safety, drowning prevention and rescue authority. You will also provide support and advice when dealing with critical incidents and crisis management, and act as the primary SLSNZ media liaison representative.
This role will report to the Head of Commercial & Marketing and key responsibilities include reviewing and implementing SLSNZ's Media and Communications Strategy, both internal and external communications and creating annual plans in line with our strategic objectives across all organisational areas. These include surf lifeguarding, education, beach and coastal safety, commercial and marketing, fundraising events, and surf lifesaving sport whilst championing our cause and raising the profile of SLSNZ as a charity.
Personal attributes we are seeking include the ability to work under pressure, be organised with high attention to detail, be collaborative with exceptional relationship management skills, and great initiative and enthusiasm. You will also need flexibility to work outside normal office hours when required and can operate with the bigger picture in mind.
Skills & ExperienceThe skills and qualifications we are looking for include:
Minimum 5 years experience working in a senior media and communications focussed role.A degree or similar in communications, PR and/or marketing.Exceptional communication and copywriting skills, with the ability to write engaging content.Experienced in pitching stories to media and knowing how to get cut through.Digitally savvy and excellent computer skills in all Microsoft Office packages.Strong networks in NZ media.Full driver's licence.If you are keen to join our amazing team and make your mark, please send in a COVER LETTER and your CV before or by 5pm Thursday 24 October 2024.
