Connect, apply, welcome.Waihanga Ara Rau is one of six Workforce Development Councils (WDCs) created under the Education and Training Act 2020 to ensure industry leadership across vocational education that is embedded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Waihanga Ara Rau is the catalyst for transformative workforce development across the Construction and Infrastructure industries in Aotearoa.Te ahua o te turanga – The nature of the positionThe Maori Industry Relationship Lead will establish and maintain relationships with Maori Industry and provide advice to align with their education aspirations, development projects and Construction and Infrastructure (C&I) activities. By using a Tikanga Maori and relationship-based approach, this role will develop a deep understanding of the diversity of Maori Industry aspirations and advocate for Maori success through the vocational education system by ensuring their voice is elevated in advice provided to the funder, through data collected and insights developed, and through the design and development of qualifications.We are looking for a person who will be able to apply a holistic approach to support a whanau-centric model of learning and look at collaborative ways of achieving academic success for Maori.Role can be based in either Wellington, Auckland or remote.General:Experience working in a Maori leadership roleA good understanding of C&I industries preferredGood understanding of tikanga-led approach, te reo Maori and Maori worldviewProven experience in effectively engaging and influencing internal and external stakeholders with clear evidence of any ability to build successful business relationships and drive strategic directionAn understanding of risk management and assurance controls and project reporting and quality standards and project lifecycle processesStrong planning and organisational skillsThrive working autonomously and the ability to develop work programmesAn understanding of vocational education is preferredWe are a workplace that values and utilises diverse and inclusive thinking, people, and behaviours.
