Te Wero - The Challenge
This role is pivotal in planning and delivering all transportation services for the Far North District Council (FNDC). As the Transport Manager, you'll lead a dedicated team of FNDC staff, supported by external consultants and contractors, to achieve the Council's strategic, tactical, and operational transportation goals. Your leadership and technical expertise will ensure continuous improvement and high-quality service across all transport functions. You'll also build and maintain effective relationships with the FNDC transport team and partners to ensure successful project delivery.
We're seeking a candidate with:
A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transport Engineering, Public Policy, Advanced Civil Diploma, or Operations Management.
Over 10 years of experience in transport operations or planning, within local government or the private sector.
At least 5 years in a leadership role.
Expertise in program, project, financial, and contract management.
Comprehensive knowledge of asset and network management, road construction, maintenance techniques, and engineering principles.
Deep understanding of regional transport planning functions.
Strong budget management and financial reporting skills.
Ability to navigate complex work environments and handle ambiguity.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and facilitation skills, with a proven track record in building and maintaining effective relationships.
What we offer:
The salary for this position is Grade 23 within Council's salary structure (Band: $147,747 to $173,820 pro rata per annum) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus Kiwi Saver.
