The maritime sector is highly exposed to third party regulators and relies on the performance of their regulatory functions to a standard that does not create maritime safety or marine protection risks, disrupt supply, or affect the conduct of commercial operations.
To ensure the effective oversight of third party regulators, Maritime New Zealand is establishing a Third Party Oversight team to provide strategic leadership as well as technical, operational and practical knowledge.
Te tunga | The role As the Manager Third Party Oversight, you'll be responsible for establishing the Third Party Oversight team, including leading and supporting direct reports to effectively deliver results and grow professionally. Working with our Regulatory Operational Policy and Practice Framework teams, this team will lead the development and delivery of practice materials (operational policy, auditing procedures, technical advice and guidance) to ensure we take a consistent and transparent approach to developing the third party element of our regulatory system. You will also provide quality insights, leadership and advice on matters relating to how third parties fit within the maritime regulatory framework.
We are seeking an experienced manager with expertise in Regulatory Systems and Frameworks, demonstrated people leadership skills and a passion for developing others. You will have a proven track record of leading and building highly engaged teams with a safe, trusting and enabling culture, managing performance and supporting people to succeed.
Ideal candidates will also have: Significant experience working with regulatory practice frameworks and processesA strong understanding of regulatory theory and proven track record in implementing regulatory excellenceProven situational, organisational and political nous, with the ability to make good risk-based decisionsProven experience in analytical and conceptual thinking in a complex environmentAbility to think at a system wide level and translate it into future focused deliverablesExperience with genuine collaboration and bringing others along on a journeyAbility to network effectively in a consultative and collaborative manner, influencing and building credibility across a range of stakeholders (internal and external)Maritime NZ recognises and respects te Tiriti o Waitangi and we are committed to working with Maori to build strong, meaningful and enduring relationships to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

Salary range: $163,965 - $200,401 depending on skills and experience + superannuation.
