This includes working with Ministry staff, colleagues, and entity boards to strengthen the focus on achieving value for money from Crown entity investments and service delivery.About the Ministry of Transport: The Ministry of Transport is the system leader for transport in New Zealand. The Ministry is the government's principal adviser on transport policy, regulation, and investment. The Ministry is also the Crown's monitor of the transport Crown entities, including the New Zealand Transport Agency, Civil Aviation Authority, Maritime New Zealand, and Transport Accident Investigation Commission. We play a crucial role in ensuring the transport system is working to improve prosperity for New Zealanders.About the opportunity: Working with other Ministry managers and our Senior Leadership Team you will lead your team to:Advise Ministers on Crown entity performance, risks, and board appointmentsCompile and analyse information from a wide range of sources to:identify for each entity their key drivers of performanceassess the functions they are performing well, and those where improvement is requiredcurrent and emerging risksManage the Ministry's contribution to, and advice on, formal accountability processes, including Statements of Intent, Statements of Performance Expectations (SPEs), and quarterly reporting on SPEs.What you'll bring: You will need the following:Experience in providing evidence-based advice to MinistersDemonstrated ability to engage with and influence senior leaders, including leading challenging conversationsDemonstrated quantitative and qualitative analytical skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport and trust with Boards, Managers, staff and stakeholdersA successful record in effectively managing people, including leading through changeA master's or equivalent tertiary degree, preferably in finance, accounting, economics, business, public policy or related discipline.Salary range: The base salary for this position is $169,590 per annum, with a mid-point of $187,900, and top of the range of $224,313 (+ KiwiSaver).
